The RDA are forced off from the moon of Polyphemus - Pandora - and now must return home to their dying world. It will take them six years to return to Earth. Giving the Na'vi and the chosen humans to live in peace for the next twelve years. A peace that was very much desired amongst the Na'vi who have waited for this day for decades...
During this time, a friendship developes amongst the Na'vi and those who were chosen by them to remain on Pandora. Very few of them even know what lies ahead of their own future; knowing full well that they could never possibly return to Earth. Most if not all do not even care to return...
...On a peninsula of where the Tree of Souls reside, a disease is mutating deep in the soil of where one of the fiercest battles in Na'vi history took place. A body of a SecOps pilot was a carrier of the Malborne Syndrome - a neurodegenerative disease that once effected 1 /4 of humans back on Earth in the latter half of the 21st Century before it eventually 'died' off when a vaccine was introduced. However, the disease remains an enigma until recently when reports of outbreaks began to occure in 2nd world nations.
With the corpse decaying underneath, plants began to grow above it and feed off of the decaying corpse for nutrition. The disease soon mutated well at this point before it traveled within the plants before animals who feasted on this particular flora began to eat it.
An unexpected arrival of the ISC Spirit of Nevada puts the Na'vi on high alert while the humans at Hell's Gate see a freshly abundant of personnel fill in the ranks of the once former employees' of Hell's Gate. This introduces a new frontline in the growing epidemic of the Malborne Crisis. An event that has lasted merely a year with the new arrivals taking control of Hell's Gate and prompting to mine again - only with the hinderance of the disease forces both parties to square off. The RDA has developed a vaccine that could or could not help the Na'vi. Leaving the Na'vi with no choice but to plead the RDA for the vaccine. The RDA black mails the Na'vi which pushes both parties into a war.
The Seige of Hell's Gate lasted a day with the majority of losses coming from both sides of the conflict. The Omaticaya and the Tipani however succeed in defeating the RDA once again. The RDA Administrator Gavin Archer dies in the conflict by one of his own during the seige, leaving the Na'vi to take hold of Hell's Gate. Those remaining to fight the Na'vi are quickly dealt with as the ISC had already left by this time.
The vaccine soon enters into the populaces of both Na'vi tribes, unsure if it will help at all. Only the young manage to come out of the coma. Other's are not so lucky with most elders and younger children dying despite the vaccine helping.
The human scientists and doctors help the Na'vi in erradicating the rest of the disease from the forest. This task lasts through the rest of the year. A unknown future lies ahead for both the remaining humans of Hell's Gate and the Na'vi clans of the forest...
...With the Malborne Syndrome that threatened the existence of human and Na'vi alike on the moon Pandora now defeated a tenuous peace comes to pass. The RDA, having been halted in all mining and production of the highly valuable mineral unobtanium, now face an impasse with the natives.
But more pressing matters now loom over the humans. An issue of radiation from Alpha Centauri A and Alpha Centauri B, a common yet prevented complication in the past, has come to light when the protective shielding covering over Hell's Gate infrastructure begins to diminish in power. Without shielding to protect themselves, the humans face radiation sickness and at worse, poisoning and death as the binary stars cover the Pandora surface with radiation during key moments in the rotation of the moon as it circles around the gas giant, Polyphemus.
The answer to solving this problem used to be simple: small amounts of refined unobtanium, some of what could be spared not being sent back to Earth, was used as the energy needed to power such energy-intensive shields. But with the Na'vi having imposed a no-mining ban upon the RDA...what will become of the humans on Pandora?
The very fate of the humans may rest upon the shoulders of the Omaticaya Na'vi and their choice to help the RDA...or leave them to the mercy of Eywa.
