There are many different anxiety disorders, but the primary feature of all is forms of abnormal or irrational fear. Everyone gets nervous, but when anxiety is frequent or overwhelming and begins to take over your life, that’s when you’ve crossed the line from normal anxiety into the territory of anxiety disorders.
Examples include: Agoraphobia (with or without Panic Disorder), Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive–Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Panic Disorder(with or without Agoraphobia), Phobias, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Social Anxiety Disorder [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Dissociative Disorders are characterized by a disruption in the normal functioning of consciousness, identity, memory, or the world around her / him. The symptoms of this range from amnesia to alternate identities. They usually develop because of severe trauma as a way to keep the painful memories at bay.
Examples include: Depersonalization Disorder, Dissociative Amnesia, Dissociative Fugue, Dissociative Identity Disorder (otherwise known as Multiple Personality Disorder or MPD)[/blockquote][/blockquote]

An eating disorder is present when a person is constantly thinking about eating or not eating, feels out of control around food, uses food to meet needs other than hunger, and/or becomes obsessed with body shape, weight and food. Eating disorders have a strong physical component and the effects of them can have serious consequences on the body.

Disorders that fall into this category include extreme difficulties or inability to control impulses regardless of negative consequences. Impulses may mean engaging in violent or unacceptable behavior such as angry fits, burning things, stealing or self-abuse.

The primary symptom of mood disorders is a serious disturbance in mood. Feelings and emotions are taken to the extremes, becoming inappropriate or over the top. Some people even experience a limited range of feelings.

Personality disorders share psychiatric conditions in which the person’s long-term emotions, thoughts and general behavior are vastly different from their cultures expectations. They cause enormous amounts of distress in everyday life and often damage relationships.

Symptoms of psychotic disorders include psychosis and/or delusions and hallucinations. Delusions are false beliefs that interfere with everyday life. You may be under the impression that someone is constantly trying to hurt you, despite there being no evidence. Hallucinations are untrue perceptions which can be visual, auditory or affect any of the other senses (smelling, tasting, ect).
Examples include: Brief Psychotic Disorder, Delusional Disorder, Schizoaffective Disorder, Schizophrenia, Shared Psychotic Disorder[/blockquote][/blockquote]
