Suicidal Patient & Mood Disorder Programming;;
[/b]People with mood disorders and suicidal tendencies are often overlooked, but not at the Phoenix House. They are given the appropriate treatment program and are expected to follow it in order to feel better about themselves.
Stage One;
In stage one, patients are placed in a multi-bed dorm, with 2 or 3 other people sharing a room with them to help deter self-harm. They are given the freedoms of the entire indoors of the building, but are always kept under close monitoring. Patients are not treated with medication, and go to a group therapy meeting once a week, and meet with a one-on-one counselor once per week as well.
Stage Two;
Heavy monitoring still occurs, with more intensive meetings. Group therapy occurs three times a week and patients meet with their one-on-0ne session just once per every two weeks. They now have the option to move to a two bedroom dorm if they find that there is too much company.
Stage Three;
They are now allowed to leave the facility after 10 AM but must be back in the facility by 9 PM (patients aged 15 and 16) or 1030 PM (patients aged 17 - 23). They are granted nearly all permissions of the House, except suicidals still have multiple things that they still cannot do. Medical treatment may be administered to patients who are showing the bare minimum improvement, as prescribed by the House doctor.
Stage Four;[/b]
Group therapy occurs once every three weeks at this stage, and meetings with their one-on-one counselor starts happening once a week. Once deemed well enough to leave, their treatment is complete.
